A graduate of the famous Newark Violin Making School in the U.K., Martin has worked in the Netherlands and Germany before setting up his workshop in Melbourne, where he now dedicates his time to making new instruments in both modern and baroque styles. Martin is a founding member of the Australian Violin Maker’s Association (AVMA).

A one piece back plate of narrow, regularly flamed maple with similar wood in the sides and head and a terrific medium grained tonewood top plate. A warm orange-brown varnish which has been applied in a complex faux antique pattern sets off this beautiful early Amatese inspired ‘baroque’ violin.

It is a very responsive violin offering the warmth of the lower bass without losing any of the brightness that allows it to carry so well. Lots of overtones, clear articulation and smooth tone throughout the full range and evenness make it easy and fun to play.
